Delegated credentialing is an arrangement in which a health insurance payer authorizes a qualified healthcare organization to perform specified provider credentialing activities on the payer’s behalf. The organization must meet the payer’s delegation requirements and remains subject to oversight, reporting, and periodic audits. The payer retains accountability for its delegated credentialing functions.
